What is the Median in Math

What is the Median in Math In Statistics based on a set of information or given data, different observations are made and these observations lead to representing the data in certain ways. Median is one such observation made by analyzing the list of given numbers or data. Median means the middle value in a given list of ordered or sorted out numbers. This implies that in order to find the median, we have to first arrange the given numbers in ascending or descending order and then pick the middle value, which is the median value! Example 1: Given the list of numbers: 2, 4, 1, 5, 7, 10, 6, 13, 9, 12, 8, what is the median value? Given list of numbers: 2, 4, 1, 5, 7, 10, 6, 13, 9, 12, 8 In order to find the median value, we have to first re-arrange the numbers in proper ascending or descending order. Therefore the ascending order of the given list is: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13. Here the middle value is 7, hence Median = 7. Example 2: Given the list of numbers: 21, 15, 17, 19, 25, 20, 24, 16, 11, 14, what is the median value? Given list of numbers: 21, 15, 17, 19, 25, 20, 24, 16, 11, 14 To find the median value, we should first re-arrange them in ascending or descending order! Therefore the ascending order of the given list is: 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 24, 25 Here there are two middle values, 17 and 19 and hence we take the average= (17+ 19)/2 = 18. Therefore, Median = 18
